Deep Tissue Massage:
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is a gentle, rhythmic massage administered to relax soft body tissue and facilitate healing. It is lighter in touch than other forms of massage and includes long flowing strokes, kneading, and friction techniques on more superficial layers of the muscles. It can loosen stiff joints, reduce muscle tension, and help clear nasal or chest congestion. Swedish massage contributes to overall well-being and is widely prescribed by physicians to enhance treatment for insomnia, anxiety, and depression.
Couples Massage
We are proud to offer couple’s massage… a wonderful way to share the calming experience with a loved one or friend. Our office has two cozy massage rooms right next to each other. You and a friend have the entire suite to yourselves, but massages are not preformed in the same room. Each client can choose the style of massage that will best meet their needs.
Prenatal Massage
Prenatal massage helps a pregnant women to relax tense muscles and reduce stress and anxiety associated with labor. It also works to relieve pain. The expanding womb puts a lot stress on the shoulders, abdominal area and back muscles of the mother, and lower back pain is very common during pregnancy. It is highly recommended that you wait until your second trimester to have a massage, and a doctor’s approval is always welcome. Most prenatal massages are preformed side-lying, bolstered comfortably with pillows. A stress free mama is your baby’s best friend.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release is a manual therapy technique that is utilized to help relieve pain and tension that is due to injury or stress. It involves releasing and unwinding the fascia (connective tissue) that surrounds each muscle and interconnects all of the other internal parts of the body. This tissue layer, which connects every muscle, tendon, ligament, bone, and organ in our bodies, can store memories of physical trauma. Releasing these restrictions allows us to discharge recurring emotional as well as physical pain.
Trigger Point Therapy
Sometimes the cause of pain derives from a seemingly unrelated source. A trigger point is a hyper irritable spot in the belly of a muscle that can refer pain patterns to other parts of your body. The object of trigger point therapy is to eliminate pain and to re-educate the muscles into pain-free habits. In this manner, the swelling and stiffness of neuromuscular pain is reduced, range of motion is increased, and flexibility and coordination are improved. Trigger point therapy can also relieve tension and improve circulation.
Ear Candling and More!
Part of the magic of massage therapy is in the recognition of the vast differences in individuals.
Another part of the magic is in the ability to harness different styles and techniques to provide you with a comprehensive and adaptative approach.
I have studied in depth Deep Tissue Massage. It is an incredible way to release tight and restricted muscle patterns that develop from postural imbalance, stress and injury.
There is also a valuable place for Swedish Massage, the most effective way to quiet and calm the mind, and to soothe frayed nerves and anxiety. Herein lie the fundamentals of the mind and body connection.
The human body is made of of layers. Energetically speaking, Ashiatsu is a bodywork approach that targets blockages of energy and the Traditional Chinese Medicine concepts of meridians. Combating ‘dis-ease’ with energy work is an effective way to lift the heavy weight of stress and fatigue and achieving a more fluid self.
Your body also has a connective tissue layer called fascia. Myofascial Release is a subtle technique used to melt the adhesive layers of fascia to encourage independent movement of muscle. Restriction in fascia can be the result of overuse, injury and scars and other bodily trauma.
So, in order to provide an amazing massage, I draw from these modalities, and others, to assess each individual based on individual needs. It just makes sense.
